Summary of PLUM Committee Meeting 3/16/09
A. Pre-filing CUB consult for Sharkey's, 6291 Topanga Canyon (near Erwin)
Sharkey's wants to add beer and wine to their menu. A sub-committee of PLUM members was formed to work
with the Sharkey's people about what limitations would need to be in place for PLUM to support a liquor license.
Both sides seemed agreeable to this, so it looks like it will work out.
B. Vista Auto Dealerhsip, 21701 Ventura Blvd. (west of Canoga Ave.)
Vista presented a review of revised design ideas for their remodel and expansion of the existing dealership.
More suggestions were made by PLUM. It's still a work in progress, but both sides are
working well together to get this completed.
C. Continuation of Pre-filing consult re: Health/Fitness Club (formerly Circuit City)
6401 Canoga Avenue (at Victory Blvd.)
L.A. Fitness wants to move into the old Circuit City building. The PLUM committee seems fine with that.
However, there are two other issues attached to this. The L.A. Fitness owner also wants to adjust parking
for everyone in the rest of the shopping mall to his advantage, and the city is asking for land dedication
from the area to widen Victory and add an additional left turn lane on Canoga.
There is much dissension over these two issues at this point.
D. Wireless Facilities Follow-up, 5751 N. Platt
No discussion of this item.
E. SVAPC Appeal Re: Design Review Board Recommendation supporting
T-Mobile installation at SW corner of Dumetz and Topanga
T-Mobile wants to add a cell phone tower to the corner of Dumetz and Topanga. There is already an AT & T
support pole in place, which they will remove and replace with a much taller (at this point they are requesting
the tower be 42-44 feet) wooden pole encircled with metal antennae. This is much higher than any neighboring
structures or poles. Next to it will be a 3 or 4 foot high power box. T-Mobile states that the Mulholland
Design Review Board has approved their request, but the PLUM committee was doubtful of this.
Several neighbors made presentations against the construction of the pole at that location.
The PLUM committee voted to support the pole, if T-Mobile will return and present them with a
redesigned and far more aesthetically pleasing version of it.
F. Woodland Hills Ventura Blvd. Signage
Status and repair considerations in relations ot using PIA Trust Funds. We were not present for this.
